Diljit Dosanjh is looking forward to work in Ali Abbas Zafar’s film based on India’s 1984 riots

Over a month ago, it was reported that filmmaker Ali Abbas Zafar is in talks with actor Diljit Dosanjh for a film based on the 1984 riots in India that occurred post the assassination of Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The film will reportedly be a Netflix project.

Speaking to a tabloid, the actor has confirmed that he is starring in the film. It will be reportedly directed by one of Ali Abbas Zafar’s assistants. The actor said that he is looking forward to shooting the film once everything returns to normalcy. Diljit said that once the lockdown is over, they will decide on the dates.

Bollywood Hungama earlier reported, “Ali describes the subject as desh ki mitti se juda hua, and that’s exactly the content that Netflix too is willing to acquire. Their stint with respect to Indian content has not really been successful (Exp. Sacred Games) so far, and by teaming up with a director like Ali, who has commercial sensibilities, Netflix is expecting to record a big spike in viewership and gain appreciation too,” the source added.

Interestingly, Diljit Dosanjh has already worked on Punjabi film Punjab 1984 based on the rights which was directed by Anurag Singh.

On the work front, Diljit Dosanjh was last seen in Good Newwz with Akshay Kumar, Kiara Advani, and Kareena Kapoor Khan. He recently dropped his album titled ‘G.O.A.T’.
